2022 Salatul EID and Khutbah

Imam W. Deen Shareef

In August of 2011, the Associated Press published leaked documents that revealed a vast program of surveillance by the NYPD, carried out by a secret “demographics” unit and targeting Muslim communities in and around New York City. For years, officers and informants had been spying on hundreds of mosques, students groups, and Muslim-owned businesses, solely on the basis of religion or ethnicity. HASSAN V. NYPD tells the dramatic story of how eleven New Jersey plaintiffs — a group of imams, college students, business owners, school teachers, and a U.S. army sergeant — come together to stand up to the NYPD in a critical fight for equal protection under the law and Constitution.

A New People

A Matter of Faith

Power of Words

“In true scriptural language, 'words' mean much more than spoken words. It means anything that gives a message to your mind. So G-d is speaking to you not only with words, but with all the objects in the physical creation. These messages that reach your mind are called the words of G-d. It is these words that form your mind and your personality. You are really a creation of words. Nothing can make a man or a woman but words. Human beings can be born again. All you have to do is to allow yourself to be fed by a new kind of word and that will make you come into a new person again.” Imam Warith Deen Mohammed (1975)
