As Salaamu-Alaikum,
Dear Community of the Northeast Section,
As the Regional Convener, I am writing to provide guidance on the commencement of the Sacred Month of Ramadan, in alignment with the Conveners of Imams and the Warithian School of Thought.
Moonsighting Report & Calendrical Dates
On the 30th night of Sha’ban (Tuesday, February 17), there were no confirmed naked-eye moonsighting reports in the continental United States that met our established criteria (verified person, location, and picture).
Therefore, please observe the following schedule:

Birth of the New Moon: Occurred today, but the New Crescent is not yet visible.

First Night of Ramadan: Tonight, Wednesday, February 18.

First Day of Fasting: Tomorrow, Thursday, February 19.

Eid Al-Fitr: Friday, March 20.
Join the National Sighting Effort
Consistent with our tradition, we will sight the New Crescent this evening to begin the Ritual Month. We encourage all believers across the Northeast to look in the direction of the sunset approximately 10 to 15 minutes after Maghrib.
